Daily Thunder Rumblings – 18 August 2017

img_4133-5Hello, Friday. Hopefully, it’s a payday for you. Here are the Rumblings.

Nick Gallo chronicled Paul George’s visit to Castaic Lake with Russell Westbrook and other members of the Thunder organization: “This day was very special,” George explained. “Everyone here had a wonderful time. This has been a dream of mine for a very long time, to push it out of its nest and hopefully let it take off and be something down the road. About an hour later, a sports car pulled into the parking lot near the west ramp of Castaic Lake. Fresh off of an airplane, Russell Westbrook had just cruised up the 405 to meet George at his event. A large contingent of Thunder players, coaches and staff who had attended a staff member’s wedding reception the night before had boarded a 6 a.m. flight out of Oklahoma City on Sunday morning, including the league’s reigning MVP. Per usual, the ever-punctual Westbrook was the first to make it from LAX to George’s event.” Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 18 August 2017

Daily Thunder Rumblings – 17 August 2017

img_4133-5My readers, you guys are awesome. Make sure you spread the word about the site. Here are the Rumblings:

Thunderous Intentions predicts Russell Westbrook’s 2K rating: “We can use last year as a measuring stick. Westbrook had a 93 rating last year and that was before the season he had. So this year, he deserves something in the ballpark of a 97 because LeBron James, who is well known to be the best player in league, has that rating. Westbrook was the best player this season, and that should grant him a 97. Westbrook showed that he was the complete player. He put up double digits in rebounds and assists along with averaging 30 points a game for the season. It all totaled up to averaging a triple-double for the season. Westbrook should be a straight up beast in this game, at least for this year.”

Paul George loves Indiana, but he will likely receive a little of the Kevin Durant treatment when he returns there on December 13th.  Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 17 August 2017

Daily Thunder Rumblings – 16 August 2017

img_4133-5Thank you for reading. Here are the Rumblings…

Paul George talks about his return to Indianapolis: “After repeated first-round playoff exits, George, 27, faced a contract year with idle 42-40 Indiana, and clarified his desire to chase victories elsewhere. And though much hearsay exists concerning where the four-time All Star may land next season, for now, George and reigning-MVP teammate Russell Westbrook look to ascend the Western Conference rankings.”

Enes Kanter reunited with Kevin Durant in a pick-up game in New York City: “Enes Kanter and Kevin Durant … playing pickup basketball … together? That was the scene Tuesday at New York City’s Life Time Athletic Sky, where Kanter and his former Thunder teammate were videoed playing a 5-on-5 game on the same court along with LeBron James, J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony.” Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 16 August 2017

img_4133-5The schedule should be released this week. Then I can finally organize my life. Here are the Rumblings.

HoopsHype.com previews the Thunder in their season preview series: “Russell Westbrook will be an MVP candidate again next season … He can will a team to the playoffs, as proved by his performance in 2016-17 … His incredible stats could translate even better to wins with a great sidekick like Paul George … It’s a super athletic bunch that should once again score a lot of points in transition … No one will be surprised if they lead the league in rebounds for the fourth year in a row” Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 14 August 2017

Daily Thunder Rumblings – 10 August 2017

It’s the day of Thor. Where’s my hammer? Here are the Rumblings.

Nooooooo!!!!!! We all knew this day would come, but it still feels weird: “Have the Thunder’s ’Stache Bros been reduced to an only child? That was the indication on Thursday, when one half of Oklahoma City’s mustachioed duo, Enes Kanter, posted a Twitter picture of teammate Steven Adams sporting a clean-shaven face (though still with his trademark long hair). Assuming it’s a current photo, Kanter is a solo Bro.”

It’s official: The Thunder will play in their first neutral site regular season game on foreign soil (not including Canada): “We’re excited to be asked to participate in the NBA Mexico City Games 2017 as the NBA expands its global reach,” Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. “As we enter only our 10th season of Thunder Basketball in Oklahoma City, we feel incredibly fortunate that our team and fan base will get to experience our first regular-season‎ game abroad.” Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 10 August 2017

img_4133-5Happy Tuesday. 70 more days until the NBA season starts. Here are the Rumblings….

David Aldridge of NBA.com ranks the teams in terms of what they’ve done in the offseason: “Compounding the rest of the league’s dilemma is that there was far less money in the system — about a third — than there was a year ago, when most everyone in the game lost its collective mind and threw money at any free agent with a pulse. Also, the league is about to tip over, it is so imbalanced at present, with a significant majority of the game’s elite talent in the Western Conference.” Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 08 August 2017

img_4133-5Somebody’s got a case of the Mondays. Here are the Rumblings….

Episode 6 of the NTTB podcast is up. You should give it a listen.

David Scott of Ridiculous Upside looks at Daniel Hamilton possibly being Oklahoma City’s next great sharpshooter: “Oklahoma City has longtime been lack of a dedicated deep shooter since the exit of Anthony Morrow. Therefore, a skilled outside offense-man coming out of their very own development team would be both efficient and something to brag about for the organization. They currently boast Doug McDermott and Alex Abrines who have already stood out to be improvements in OKC’s outside shooting efficiency, so hopefully fans of the Thunder can expect to see a change of momentum from outside this season. No matter the turnout, it will still he interesting to see how the Thunder’s young team turns out with the addition of Dakari Johnson, Terrance Ferguson, and now the sophomore, Daniel Hamilton.”

Senator Jim Inhofe says Kevin Durant is welcome back in Oklahoma. Senator Inhofe… TMZ…What is going on????  Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 07 August 2017

We’re almost there. Just under 90 days until the NBA season starts. Here is Thursday’s edition of DTR…

Steven Adams spoke to two reporters in the Philippines. Some good things came out of that 10 minute interview.

Enes Kanter seriously thought Rudy Gay had signed with the Thunder when he put out that ill-timed tweet. He’s had a heck of a summer: “After making it back to the United States, he blew the lid off Rudy Gay’s free agency visit to Oklahoma City by tweeting a photo of Gay’s nameplate on a locker in the Thunder’s practice facility. Of course, Kanter laughs about it now. “I seriously thought he signed with us, but they just didn’t say it publicly,” Kanter told The Oklahoman Tuesday from New York City. “After I saw he signed with the Spurs, I was like, ‘man I need to get a new source.’”

Jenni Carlson ranks the Thunder’s alternate jerseys.  Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 20 July 2017

Daily Thunder Rumblings – 13 July 2017

Had a great time at the Paul George welcoming party and introductory press conference. Hopefully next year, at this time, we’ll be celebrating his contract extension. Here are the Rumblings.

Royce Young looks at the year long recruitment the Thunder are about to undertake with Paul George: “George was supposed to arrive at 1 p.m., and word had circulated on social media. Thunder fans, as has become their tradition, deployed to meet at their usual spot. On what was of course the hottest day yet of summer in Oklahoma, George’s flight was delayed an hour and a half. Bottles of water were passed around. A dozen or so pizzas showed up. Fans chanted, played music, fanned themselves with homemade signs and exchanged conversations that mostly started and ended with some variation of “Paul George? Paul George!” But George was here now, and he walked to the fence and pressed his hand up against it, dragging it from one end of the line to the other. Fans chanted “P-G-O-K-C!” as he posed for a selfie up against the fence. He waved and jumped in a black SUV. Fans hustled their way to line the road that exited the hanger and waved at George and his family as they were chauffeured off into OKC. And thus began Day 1 of a one-year recruiting trip.” Continue reading Daily Thunder Rumblings – 13 July 2017
