Thunder At A Glance – 30 November 2018

img_4063Erik Horne (NewsOK) on the continued rehabilitation of Andre Roberson: “But Thursday had some of the most promising displays from Roberson in the Thunder’s post-practice sessions the media is allowed to witness. In the past month, the Thunder staff has ramped up Roberson’s conditioning drills in the non-contact, post-practice sessions, often with Donovan and general manager Sam Presti watching intently.”

Erik Horne (NewsOK) on Patrick Patterson holding a film festival for students in Oklahoma: “Patterson is teaming up with the deadCenter Film Festival to judge a movie contest for students around the state of Oklahoma. In Patterson’s “Pat Presents Oklahoma Student Film Contest,” Patterson will judge high school and college student produced short film submissions. The contest is open to all students currently enrolled in an Oklahoma high school, tech center, college or university.”

Adam Zagoria (Forbes) on how Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant influenced Trae Young when he was coming up: “I’ve gotten a lot of feedback since I’ve gotten drafted,” Young said on the latest episiode of “Rookie On The Rise” from Young Hollywood. “Really throughout the Summer League, throughout the summer process and throughout these summer games, I’ve gotten a lot of texts from a lot of vets and a lot of guys I look up to. One of the main people I’ve been talking to is Kevin Durant. He reached out to me after our games in Utah, just trying to be encouraging and giving me a lot of advice about different things – on how to handle the media, and just everything that goes into basketball.”

Maddie Lee (NewsOK) on Steven Adams balancing being a leader and a jokester: “I think his words are gold,” rookie center Tyler Davis said at Blue Media Day last month. “ … Everything he says, no matter what it is, I listen to it and take it serious.” Davis is on a two-way contract with the Thunder and Blue. He stayed after Thunder practice Monday to put up shots with Adams. When Davis made the final shot of their combined 10 left corner 3-pointers, Adams gave him a playful shove from behind. Keeping things light is one thing Davis said he took from Adams. Davis also wanted to hone his defense and communication skills.”

Jimmy Do (OKCThunder.com) on Dennis Schröder and Hamidou Diallo giving away coats to the community: “Schroder alongside teammate Hamidou Diallo, stopped by the nonprofit organization Citizens Caring for Children to help foster children get ready for the winter season, part of Thunder Holiday Assist, presented by Cox Communications.”

Maddie Lee (NewsOK) on the bond between Abdel Nader and Deonte Burton: “Reunited, Nader and Burton have spent the beginning of this season making trips back and forth between the Thunder and its G League affiliate, the Blue. Nader has been assigned to the Blue three times as he worked back from an offseason wrist surgery. Burton, as a two-way player, is allowed 45 days with the Thunder. Both played for the Blue at least once last week before joining the Thunder on its trip to Phoenix and Sacramento.”
