Thunder At A Glance – 05 October 2018

img_4063Royce Young (ESPN) on the setback suffered by Andre Roberson in his recovery from a ruptured patella tendon: “After suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in January, Roberson was on track to return to the floor in November, but he needed an additional procedure because a suture was causing irritation that he couldn’t play through.”

Nick Gallo ( with reaction to the Thunder’s first preseason game: “It was a Thunder group featuring a 14-year veteran in reserve point guard Raymond Felton, forward Jerami Grant, backup center Nerlens Noel and then 20-year-old Terrance Ferguson and 19-year-old Hamidou Diallo. Clashing against the Pistons’ All-Star center Andre Drummond, a rising, physical forward in Stanley Johnson and few other veteran starters, the Thunder youngsters hung in there and made Wednesday’s preseason opener a high-intensity, competitive battle for all 48 minutes.”

Erik Horne (NewsOK) on the Roberson set-back: “Two months from Thursday would be Dec. 4, but does not mean that Roberson will be back at that time. The Thunder said Roberson was on pace to be back sometime in November and was progressing well from the rupture of the left patellar tendon in his knee Jan. 27. Roberson also had arthroscopic surgery on the same knee May 29. The procedure Roberson had on Thursday was not arthroscopic.”

Per Erik Horne (NewsOK), the Sunset jerseys will be back this season: “There’s no indication if the uniform will be worn beyond Christmas Day, but it will not be a direct duplicate of the previous version the Thunder wore two seasons ago. The Thunder last wore the “sunset” uniforms in 2017, the final season of Adidas’ contract with the NBA.”

Tamberlyn Richardson (Thunderous Intentions) with 5 quick points from the Pistons game: “This might seem like a minor detail, but Patterson is not known for his rebounding prowess averaging less than half that many last season (2.4). If 2Pat can maintain his shooting efficiency, defensive savvy and keep crashing the boards expect a much more productive second season in OKC.”

Clay Horning (Norman Transcript) says the Thunder need more from other sources: “At this time of the year, we have to continuously work on our stamina, continuing to grow in our conditioning … we have to be able to sustain the way we want to play for the full 48 minutes,” he said. “I think with that being said, there is a lot we can build off of … in a lot of different areas.”
