Royce Young (ESPN) on the lack of uncertainty surrounding Paul George and the Thunder this season: “Absolutely,” Paul George told ESPN when asked if the Thunder are built to contend. “We’ve got the chemistry. Me being around these guys going on about to be two years now, there’s an expectation and a level we know we need to play at. I think the consistency part you’ll see with us now being able to play well against the sub-.500 teams. But I definitely think this team has a chance. The reason why I signed back here is because I believed in it. And everybody in here believes. It’s on us, we’ve got our work cut out and it’s not going to be easy, but we’re up for it.”

Jeff Patterson (NewsOK) on 10 memorable quotes from media day: “Well, I think me starting off in a small market helped with feeling what small markets bring as far as a community standpoint. It was a great start to be in Indy for that feeling. And then again, the city being behind this team, the team being behind the community, it was just hand in hand, and then just being a part of this team, it just felt right.”

Jimmy Do (OKCThunder.com) provides us with a behind the scenes look at media day.

Erik Horne (NewsOK) on Dennis Schroder starting a new chapter with the Thunder: “Schroder will get his chance to play with George immediately, but he’ll have to wait to play with Westbrook. It may be a blessing in disguise, as Schroder will get valuable first-team repetitions with George and Adams in preseason as Westbrook rehabs. Schroder and George, in particular, may form a strong tandem in staggered lineups, as George was comfortable closing the first quarter and starting the second flanked by reserves last season.”

Per the Thunder, they finally hired their new play by play guy, Chris Fisher: “Chris is an exciting addition to the Thunder family and our broadcast team. He is considered a rising star in sports broadcasting and we are thrilled to welcome him,” said Dan Mahoney, Thunder VP of Broadcasting. “Besides being an experienced, talented broadcaster with a passion for basketball, Chris is a first-rate person. We believe that on and off the air he will be an excellent representative of our team, our community and our partners at FOX Sports Oklahoma.”

Clay Horning (Norman Transcript) on Paul George making anything possible with this team: “I just think we worked through a lot in one year and people expected us to be a lot further along,” Paul said. “But, honestly, that’s the reason why I’m here for year two. I knew it wasn’t going to be something that happened in one year being with this group. You’ve got to build certain habits and that’s the habits we’re hoping that we build … that consistency.”
