NTTB Thunder Rumblings – 27 July 2018

Marc J. Spears (ESPN) interviews Paul George on his decision to stay in OKC: “It was absolutely tempting,” George said. “Honestly, I wanted to come back home. But again, I got traded to Oklahoma. Loved the situation. Loved where I was at. I decided to stick around a little longer.”

Jemele Hill (The Undefeated) interviews Carmelo Anthony on his one season in OKC: “To get bought out, to get waived, you were looked at like, you’re done,” said Anthony, who was in Washington, D.C., to attend a private Nike event Wednesday night. “Now, it’s just almost like the norm. If something doesn’t work, go ahead and get a buyout or go ahead and get traded. That’s the new norm in our society in basketball. I had to get over that.”

Erik Horne (NewsOK) on Russell Westbrook and Paul George both being in Las Vegas to attend the Team USA mini-camp: “He’s that mid-tier star in our league, one of the best point guards in the league in general. I’m excited. We’ve got another scorer, another playmaker and just another savvy guy in the locker room that can help us win ball games.”

Berry Tramel (NewsOK) on the Kevin Durant vs. C.J. McCollum “beef”: “But afterwards, McCollum and Durant took to social media. Durant, of course, has been exposed on social media using anonymous accounts to defend his decision, even once famously ripping Thunder coach Billy Donovan, an innocent bystander if ever there was one.”

Samantha Motion (NZ Herald) on Steven Adams recently working out with famous cricket player Trent Boult: “Bearded and barefoot, Rotorua-raised Adams worked out alongside another international athlete: New Zealand BlackCap fast bowler Trent Boult.”
