Thunder At A Glance – 22 February 2019

img_4063Jackson Frank (FanSided NBA) on the development of Jerami Grant and if he’s the X-factor to their playoff success: “The most prominent new wrinkle in his game has been a serviceable outside jumper, connecting on 37.3 percent of his 3.1 3-point attempts per game — both career-highs. Slotting in next to Steven Adams, who’s 0 of 6 from deep in his six-plus seasons, Grant now (semi-)comfortably operates as a floor-spacer at the 4-spot. When defenders sag off to muddy up Russell Westbrook’s, Paul George’s or Dennis Schröder’s forays to the tin, Grant nails corner 3s at a 39 percent clip.”

Brett Dawson (The Athletic) on whether there should be more attention paid to Russell Westbrook’s accomplishments: “But as a reminder, he also is averaging a triple-double. Westbrook is attempting to do something for a third consecutive season that only one other player has done even once. He’s a run of consecutive stat-stuffing games that’s never been matched, and it’s something of a footnote.”

Nick Gallo (OKCThunder.com) on Markieff Morris being ready to contribute to the Thunder: “You can tell it’s genuine between those guys. I told those guys when I was talking to them, the whole team, the whole organization, you can tell is a family atmosphere,” said Morris. “Both of those guys, in general, they do it on both ends of the court. They pride their selves on going hard. PG is on another level. Russ has been on another level. PG is top three in the MVP right now in my eyes.”

Brandy McDonnell (NewsOK) on Patrick Patterson hosting a film-making competition for young, up and coming directors: “Schools that will be represented at the “Pat Presents Oklahoma Student Film Contest” screening include Jones High School, Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton, Eastern Oklahoma County Tech Center in Choctaw, Jenks High School, Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City Community College and the University of Oklahoma in Norman.”

Maddie Lee (NewsOK) on the Zion Williamson situation while wearing PG’s: “My only concern is for Zion, honestly,” George said after Thunder practice Thursday. “People were making a big deal about the shoe when everything should have been about Zion, his injury. That was the only thing I was concerned about was how bad it was and hopeful it wasn’t something that was too bad and it was something that he could come back from.”
