Thunder At A Glance – 05 December 2018

img_4063Russell Westbrook made an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, where he explained the idea behind his “rock a bye baby” celebration.

Cody Taylor (OKC ThunderWire) on Odell Beckham Jr. thinking he might need to suit up for the Nets to help contain Russell Westbrook: “Westbrook is averaging 22.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 9.5 assists in 14 games this season as the Thunder are just half of a game back of the Nuggets and Clippers for the best record in the Western Conference. With the Thunder facing the 8-17 Nets on Wednesday, they may need OBJ to step in and try his hand at stopping Westbrook.”

Nick Collison stopped by practice yesterday, and here are the pictures to prove it.

Andrew Miller (Hoops Habit) on Dennis Schroder making a case for 6th Man Of The Year: “The scoring efficiency is one thing Schroder will have to improve. His 41.9 percent shooting from the field and 34.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc are fine, but for a team with championship aspirations, “fine” isn’t enough. Schroder can get to the rim, and his elite first step is getting him there at a decent rate, with more than one-third of his shots coming at the basket. Unfortunately, he’s only converting 49.1 percent of those looks, well below-average.”

Erik Horne (NewsOK) on quick hands being essential for the Thunder’s success on defense: “The Thunder is forcing turnovers on 17.3 percent of opponents’ possessions, the highest rate in the league. Much of the success comes down to quick hands, as the Thunder is third in deflections (15.4) and second in loose balls recovered (10.6) per game.”
